Strokestown Fishing:
There are 14 lakes collectively known as the Strokestown Lakes. Many of these lakes have very good access and facilities provided by the Shannon Regional Fisheries Board which includes fishing stands, disabled angling facilities, access roads and car parks etc. Some offer excellent fishing while others less known but worth exploring and experimenting. Neighbouring angling centres describe a myriad of other lake fisheries and hotspots on the River Shannon

Strokestown GAA:
They are currently competing at Senior and Junior levels as well as underage. The club, though going through many transitions in the early years, was founded in 1881, around the same period as the GAA National Association was set up.
