Ballyleague is a picturesque village situated on the Roscommon side of the
Longford/Roscommon Border. Ballyleague is located at the North of Lough Ree. The bridge which
crosses the River Shannon separates the two counties here.
Ballyleague
is effectively a 2
in 1 town with Ballyleague running into Lanesboro on the townland of the Longford
side of the bridge. While most of the services of the town remain on the
Lanesboro side it is only a two minute walk from Ballyleague. Ballyleague’s
location is also ideal as it lies only 13km from the town of Roscommon and 16km
from the town of Longford which means easy access to 2 large towns. Ballyleague
is a renowned fishing spot with the local power station leading to what is known
as the “hot water stretch” which leads to good stocks of fish every year.
